Sifu Jeff Bakanovic
My journey in the martial arts spans over the last fourteen years starting with Sifu Steve in the summer of '97. I quickly adapted to the art and became one of my Sifu's student instructors. By the spring of 2000 I was getting ready to test for my Shodan when I took a life altering turn and joined the military. After spending three years in the infantry for the Army I learned aspects and philosophies I was able to relate to my training in the martial arts. After separating from the military I continued my training in a more unorthodox way, avoiding my test for Shodan and recognized rank but sought knowledge and mental growth and understanding of the principles. By 2010 my passion to teach and continue my formal training was revived and I tested for my Shodan in September of that year.
I took over for my Sifu who after instructing the art of Kenpo for some fifteen years decided to retire from teaching which brings us to where we are today. As I move forward in my journey in the martial arts I will be striving to grow physically, mentally and technically. Branching out into studies of other forms of martial arts to round out my capabilities and grow the art of Kenpo Jiu Jitsu as we move forward into the future.
