What is Kenpo Jiu JitsuKenpo is a centuries old martial art with its roots orginating in Japan and China. Kenpo was brought from Japan to Hawaii by Master James Mitose in the early 1900's. After WW II he began teaching openly and taught Master William Chow who would teach Ed Parker. Master Parker was not the first to bring Kenpo to the main land in the 1950's but is created as the founder of American Kenpo. Master Parker would teach the Tracy brothers who would eventually branch away from the Parker's system. Through the generations the system has under gone several name and philosophy changes. Master Mitose called the system Kenpo Jiu Jitsu which is the name that I have chosen to use as my Sifu before me.Kenpo is an art that is rooted in the linear movements of the Japanese influence and the circular movements of Chinese influence. Kenpo uses leverage, speed, precission and principles of physics to meet and deal with an opponent while not wasting motion or movements and working body autonomics to flow from one move to another. Kenpo is an endless flow of motion that constantly adapts to your opponents reaction, using the techniques in their entirty or in pieces while constantly adjusting to the situation as necessary. Using control and self discipline a Kenpo practioner will use only enough force to deal with their opponent.Kenpo uses a system of techniques that teach practicle self defense that have over the centuries been developed to work efficently. Through constant study and changing times Kenpo continues to flurish to meet the changing times and situations that continue to arise while staying true to its core principles and philosphies.
